Paris, the City of light, is at its most exciting and breath-taking at New Year. New Year on the streets of Paris

To see the Eiffel Tower clad in her finest gown of light, take a tour of the Trocadéro side or witness her splendour from the Champ de Mars. The party will also be in full swing on the Champs Élysées. The Arc de Triomphe is certainly not neglected, either, since on December 31st, it will be lit up from 23:30, followed by a great video projection show from 11:50, marking the minutes until midnight. You’ll be at the heart of the event, ready to do the big countdown in an incomparable atmosphere.
A fabulous meal in an exceptional restaurant
Gastronomy and the New Year go together so well. On this special occasion, why not treat yourself and your loved one to dinner in one of the most famous restaurants in the capital; Le 58 Tour Eiffel, situated on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. In addition to offering delicious dishes honouring the heritage of French gastronomy, it offers a breath-taking panoramic view of Paris. Another possibility is Le Train Bleu, which will welcome you during this exceptional evening with a menu of delicious dishes based around lobster, venison or king scallops. Le Fouquet's is another essential restaurant in Paris, as is L'Opera. These two establishments take special pride in delighting the palate each New Year’s Eve and are located close to the major festivities. Whatever you choose, remember to book your table good and early!
Make it a cabaret festival
Cabaret shows are among the most popular attractions in Paris and it would be a shame to spend time in the capital without enjoying an evening of the spectacular and flamboyant entertainment they provide. And this goes double for New Year's Eve! The legendary Moulin Rouge offers a dinner and show, and to ensure the party continues into the night, there’s dancing to follow. Alternatively, the Crazy Horse presents the most avant-garde cabaret in Paris, engaging the mind as much as the eye. Enjoy an incredible show while savouring caviar and Champagne before continuing the evening in the Pershing Hall restaurant, located nearby. For an atmosphere filled with warmth and laughter, La Main au Panier is hard to beat. A delicious meal and a comedy show are on the evening’s programme.
Other outing ideas for New Year
Paris parties during New Year's Eve, but you can spend the evening in a theatre, if you wish. Magician Eric Antoine is at the Olympia, and comedian Marc Jolivet at the Salle Gaveau. Other humourists await you in many venues in the capital. There are also musical shows, including Mistinguett at the Casino de Paris, and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker at the Palais des Congrès. If you want to party at some great nightclubs and bars, check out the Trocadero Aquarium, Players, or Yoyo at the Palais de Tokyo.
