Discover the best markets in the capital
The markets of Paris are one of the city’s oldest and most delightful institutions. Here we find the real Paris, the picture postcard Paris, the Paris of warmth, humour and surprises. We recommend a visit to the Batignolles. Located in the 17th arrondissement, this is an open-air all-organic market that is hugely popular with the locals. It takes place each Saturday. In the 12th arrondissement, the Aligre street market has entertaining vendors, a bustling vibrancy and a diverse selection. It’s open every morning except Monday. Finally, we must not forget the city’s oldest market. Situated in the 3rd arrondissement, the Enfants Rouges dates back to 1615 and is on the list of national historical monuments. Open every day but Monday, it has some amazing food stalls selling African, Lebanese, Italian and Japanese takeaways.
