Essentials: Paris Plage & Cinema au Clair de Lune in Paris

The summer holiday period in Paris brings pleasant days of relaxation on beaches under the sun on the occasion of Paris Plages. Added to this unique event is Cinema au Clair de Lune, an opportunity to enjoy great movies in the open air in various key locations throughout Paris.

Paris Plage, the big summer event in Paris

Since 2002, Parisians and visitors to the city alike have enjoyed the opportunity to spend their summer holidays on a sandy beach without leaving the capital, thanks to Paris Plage. This annual event is scheduled this year to run from July 20th to August 18th. Appealing to both children and adults, these temporary beaches offer a fun-filled array of entertainment and sports. There’s electric boats for the youngsters, pedal boats, roller-tube, caravelle, rowing and zip lines at the Bassin de la Villette. On land there’s yet more activities, including bowling, table football and dancing and Tai Chi classes. Three locations are chosen to join in with the fun; the right bank of the Seine by the Georges Pompidou expressway; the square in front of the Hôtel de Ville; and the edge of the Bassin de la Villette will each be turned into beaches with parasols, palm trees and sun-loungers. The Hotel Université offers quick access to all these places, as well as a welcoming and comfortable haven at the end of a day of fun at the beach.

Cinema in the Moonlight 2015: thrills are guaranteed!

Cinema au Clair de Lune is a boon beneath the moon for moviegoers. This open air movie screenings event organised by Forum des Images will take place from July 31st to August 9th, 2015, in various locations throughout all the districts of the capital. This 15th edition will be marked by free showings of silver screen classics and newer movies. You can enjoy walks by night in the atmospheric French capital before settling down in the location of your choice to enjoy the magic of the movies.
