Exciting upcoming events in Paris this Autumn

Although the summer is still very much with us it’s always best to think ahead, especially when upcoming events are such a source of pleasurable anticipation. The mellow season of autumn is just around the corner and as always Paris offers a veritable harvest of interesting and enjoyable events, exhibitions and shows that are guaranteed to tempt you into paying a visit to the City of Light. The Hotel de l'Université is pleased to present our pick of the autumn crop; covering a wide range of subjects from design to fine art and antiques and from automobiles to contemporary art. Paris Design Week
Forward looking, free ranging, yet accessible to all is Paris Design Week. Art, fashion, gastronomy, furniture; all these subjects and many more come under the umbrella of design. Therefore this eight day extravaganza embraces a multitude of disciplines and takes place in venues scattered across the city. From September 6th to 13th locations such as the Cité de la Mode et du Design as well as various galleries, shops and even restaurants and hotels will host a plethora of exhibitions, presentations, workshops and parties featuring items of interest for both professionals and the general public.
Biennale des Antiquaires
The 27th Biennale des Antiquaires at the Grand Palais is the place to be if you have an interest in the world of fine art, quality antiques and jewellery. Since 1962 this event has attracted the world’s leading dealers and specialists in these areas and has become perhaps the most prestigious show of its kind in the world. Organised by the well respected Syndicat National des Antiquaires, this is a beautiful event in an appropriately beautiful setting. Whether you are a collector or simply have an interest in superior craftsmanship and history, you will find plenty to hold you fascinated from September 11th to 21st.
Paris Motor Show
The first and still the greatest automotive event in the world, the Paris Motor Show opens its doors at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre from October 4th to the 19th. Here you will find the world’s major manufacturers represented from Aston Martin to Volvo, along with smaller specialist marques. As always, dozens of new vehicles will receive their world premieres and you can be there at the unveiling. Additionally, a fascinating exhibition will examine the relationship between Automobiles and Fashion, illustrated by forty great cars of the past.
FIAC
Modern art, contemporary art and emergent trends are the themes of FIAC, the Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain. Beneath the stunning glass roof of the Grand Palais from October 23rd to 26th you will find well over 150 exhibitors from more than two dozen countries gathered together for this 41st edition of one of the world’s leading artistic events. Artists whose works will be on show include Skarstedt, Shane Campbell, Antoine Levi and Kaufmann Repetto. There will be a series of lectures, plus outdoor walks and screenings of artists’ films in delightful Parisian settings. Additionally, the winner of the prestigious Prix Marcel Duchamp will be announced.
