From July 8th to September 3rd, fine white sand and blue deckchairs will again cover the banks of the Seine. Entertainment, water sports and ice cream will complete the beach resort atmosphere.
Paris: an unmissable beach resort
This summer, as every year, the Georges-Pompidou Expressway, the Bassin de la Villette and the square in front of the Hôtel de Ville will once again be turned into temporary beaches thanks to several tons of imported sand. Regulars will saunter by, towels over their shoulders, and find their favourite spot. While newcomers, perhaps a little startled, will hesitate for a few seconds before slipping into swimsuits and straw hats to stretch out on the sand, magazines and ice cream cones in hand. There’s volleyball, boating, books from the mobile library, and cold drinks if the sun becomes too intense. Just slap on the sunscreen and enjoy a game of table football or a session of water games in the Seine. It’s a real beach holiday, right in the heart of Paris!
June 18: the Prix de Diane
Horses and hats are at the rendezvous for this world class thoroughbred horse race taking place at Chantilly Racecourse. The race prize goes to the filly who achieves victory over 2100 metres, but the prize of elegance and distinction will be given to the queen of the parade of hats.

One of the most prestigious events in the French flat racing calendar and a truly glamorous occasion, the Prix de Diane combines sporty fervour and delightful frivolity. Well-dressed spectators from around the world throng the marquees and gather around the paddock or enjoy a picnic on the grass. A prize is awarded to the most elegantly dressed lady and then it’s time for the main feature of the meeting; the Prix de Diane. They’re off! The fillies thunder along the sward and the excitement mounts as they turn into the home straight! Did you pick the winner? What a day!
