Until May 18th this fine venue presents Black Atlantic, an exhibition of documents, photographs and artefacts relating to Nancy Cunard and her work. In 1934 this English poet, journalist and social activist published Negro Anthology, a documentary style volume examining Black culture and history which was a landmark in social awareness at the time.

At the Grand Palais National Galleries until July 21st you can see an amazing exhibition of the work of the celebrated American video and installation artist, Bill Viola, with moving paintings, monumental installations and more dating from 1977 to today. Viola explores large themes such as birth, death and transfiguration, the conscience and the roots of art and this exhibition is visually compelling and thought provoking.

Taking place on April 6th is an event which should not be missed. The Paris Marathon is one of the five biggest in the world. Around a hundred nations and 50,000 runners take part in this joyous and challenging event which journeys through Paris from the Champs Elysees to the Avenue Foch and includes the Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne woods, the Place de la Bastille, the Seine and many other famous landmarks such as the Louvre and the Pont Neuf.
