Running enthusiasts eagerly await the various events hosted by the capital every year. The most famous is certainly the great Paris Marathon, which takes place this year on April 14th. What’s more, when you stay at the Hôtel de l'Université you’ll be ideally located to enjoy jogging in the Jardin des Tuileries.
The Paris Marathon; world-class long-distance excitement
Registration is already open for this year’s 43rd edition of the Paris Marathon. One of the world’s great city marathons, it has taken place each year since 1976. At the starting line on the Champs-Elysees nearly 55,000 runners from all over the world will assemble, ready to take on the 42.195 kms challenge.
The route will take in the Porte Dauphine, Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes, and pass by Notre Dame Cathedral and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.
What stories of triumph and pain will the 2019 event bring us? Answers on April 14th... If you don’t plan to run, you can still enjoy watching the action and free music performances amidst a festive atmosphere!
Keep in trim at the Jardin des Tuileries
If this classic sporting event puts you in the mood to take a (shorter) run, just a few minutes from the Hôtel de l'Université, between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde, is the ideal place to do so; the Jardin des Tuileries. The paths are dotted with statues by Maillol, Rodin and Giacometti, and two large ponds add to the sense of tranquillity.
Within its 25 hectares, the Jardin des Tuileries offers plenty of space for running, including two wide straight aisles of more than 750 metres that are perfect for quietly enjoying a short jog. This large rectangular sports area is covered with soft gravel that’s easy on your joints. Lace up your sneakers and pound the paths of this exquisite public park!
