Published on 4 May 2017, dans Events
It's official! The summer sales will take place this year from June 28th to August 8th. The Universite Hotel have prepared all you need to know... That’s a whole, glorious six weeks in which to refurbish your wardrobe, refurnish your home, find the perfume of your dreams and replenish your bookshelves, all at bargain prices! But before you go on a shopping spree, why not visit Saint-Germain-des-Prés for the Jazz Festival, May 11th to 22nd?
Music in Saint-Germain!
The Saint-Germain Jazz Festival was launched in 2001. So for 16 years quartets, quintets, trios, pianos, saxophones, double basses, drums, and trombones have blown their blue notes from Saint-Sulpice Church, the Cluny Museum, the Odeon Theatre and the Sorbonne. In Saint-Germain Church, on the boulevard of the same name, from the Maison des Océans and the Café Atlantic the sounds of cool and hot jazz have issued forth! You can catch jazz and gossip at the café-restaurant Les Editeurs and afterjazz jam sessions at the Lucernaire. Performers confirmed for this year are pianist Baptiste Trotignon, Stefano Di Battista and his quintet, as well as the gospel star Linda Lee Hopkins. There will be old favourites and new talents (see the jazz stars of tomorrow at the Sunset) to fill your days and nights with music. The programme of this emblematic and eclectic event can be found online; check it out for more detailed info!
The Summer Sales are coming!
Six weeks of summer sales in Paris? The opportunity is too good to miss! Head for the Grands Magasins department stores, where you can find the most prestigious brands amidst Art Deco splendour. Lovers of fashion can stroll the streets of the Marais to discover the coolest designers. Those who love luxury will find shopping spree happiness between Passy and the Boulevard Saint-Germain. As for bookstores, each district has its own jewel. We need only mention the legendary Delamain, the Divan on the Rue de la Convention, and the Librairie de Paris in the Place Clichy.
