Published on 30 June 2016, dans Entertainment
This summer promises to be rich in fun and excitement! The Hotel Université, close to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, invites you to enjoy the best events in Paris. In July and August you can discover the famous Fête des Tuileries, and catch the climax of the Tour de France on the Champs-Elysées.
Mark the Tuileries Fair in your calendar for summer fun!
If you love funfairs then you are your family should not miss the utterly charming Fête des Tuileries, a much-loved and eagerly anticipated annual event in the 1st arrondissement. The fun takes place from Saturday, June 25th to Sunday, August 22nd, 2016 in this famous public park located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde, a delightful place to stroll and admire statues by Maillol, Rodin and Giacometti. But family fun rather than high culture is on the agenda this summer! Organised by Marcel Campion (manager of the Foire du Trône), this delightfully traditional fair dates from the mid-1990s. It’s the 2nd largest Parisian fair after the Foire du Trône, but is on a more family-friendly scale. Nonetheless, it boasts over 80 attractions including twenty rides and classic favourites such as ghost trains, rifle shooting, dodgems, trampolines and giant slides, plus games of skill and chance. There’s also the 6G, a white-knuckle ride that will propel you at speeds of up to 140 km/h. And, of course, no-one will want to miss the opportunity to ride on the Ferris wheel installed on the Place de la Concorde, which is now 10 metres larger than before! Fun food lovers will relish the chance to tuck into waffles, candy floss and toffee apples, while enjoying the concerts and jazz festivals that are also on the programme.
The arrival of the Tour de France; the climax of a legendary race
The month of July is certainly eventful! The Hotel Université invites you to be a spectator for the last stretch of the Tour de France on July 24th as the legendary race reaches its breath-taking climax on the most famous avenue in the world! The 21st and final stage of the Tour will see the arrival of the first riders at around 17:50. Leaving Chantilly, 22 teams of 9 riders will race for 113 km through the most beautiful parts of the capital before tackling the spellbinding final sprint. They enter Paris via the Bois de Boulogne and Porte Maillot, and chart a course past the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides, before heading along the Champs-Elysées and around the Arc de Triomphe.
